Expedia-Backed Traveloka Enters Insurance
Jakarta-based Traveloka , an online travel aggregator that helps customers choose and book their next travel location, has entered insurance; offering Home Protection Insurance during Lebaran Festive Holiday.
A “first of its kind in Indonesia,” the product offers coverage for one’s home against fire and burglary up to Rp20 for 30 days starting from the policyholder’s departure date. Last, coverage can be purchased via the Traveloka App.
“Traveloka is committed to accommodate our users’ needs, especially during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-al Fitr holidays, where families usually go on a ‘mudik’ trip to visit and spend time with their relatives. We often feel unsafe during our trip, because of ongoing worries with what might happen to our unoccupied house. For that reason, Traveloka not only provides the comfort while traveling, but also aims to provide a sense of security for its users by launching this Home Protection Insurance just in time for the ‘mudik’ season.” – Head of Global Partnership at Traveloka, Yady Guitana.
Established in 2012, Traveloka is an Indonesian unicorn company that has raised $920m since its inception from several investors including Expedia. Its website typically attracts ~30m monthly visits.
