EverQuote takes minority stake in Waniwani

EverQuote has entered into an exclusive commercial partnership with Waniwani and made a strategic minority investment in the company. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 2026, the San Francisco startup has a team of around 13 employees and helps companies build AI distribution channels across platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, with tools for product discovery, conversion, analytics, and compliance.

Waniwani , which powers Tuio’s ChatGPT insurance app, raised an $8 million seed round led by Seedcamp in June.

EverQuote plans to integrate Waniwani’s technology into its AI solutions for P&C carriers and insurance agents. The companies will also jointly develop products designed to improve how insurers’ brands, content, and offerings appear across AI assistants and autonomous shopping tools.

As background, EverQuote reported second-quarter revenue of $195.1 million, up 25%, and adjusted EBITDA of $30.1 million, up 37%. Auto insurance accounted for $172.1 million in revenue, compared to $23 million from home insurance. Still, its shares have been volatile but are essentially flat year to date, trading at $25.55 as of August 11—up less than 1% since the start of 2026. The stock has traded between $13.88 and $28.73 over the past 52 weeks.

There is an interesting Lemonade angle. Tuio , a personal lines MGA that has long looked a lot like Lemonade, is already quoting home insurance inside ChatGPT using Waniwani’s technology. EverQuote, which operates ZestyQuote to theoretically connect consumers to Lemonade, is now investing in that same infrastructure to build AI-integrated distribution channels.

“Discoverability and engagement are being redefined in real time as AI agents take on a larger role in how people find and choose products and services. By developing new products and integrating technologies like Waniwani, we will extend our portfolio of growth solutions for P&C carriers and agents and give our customers the tools they need to stay visible and competitive in this new landscape, not just for today’s digital channels, but for the agentic AI channels that are quickly becoming just as important.” – Jayme Mendal, CEO of EverQuote.

Bottom Line: EverQuote’s web traffic has been cut in half over the past year, according to Coverager’s latest Monthly Innovation Report, and the company is responding by building AI distribution channels. Lemonade won the argument that insurance could be done better—everyone from Tuio to Mapfre bought into the vision. But we have yet to see Lemonade itself launch inside ChatGPT.
