Estate planning gets smarter: Trust & Will to add verified insurance data via Canopy Connect

Digital estate planning platform Trust & Will has announced a new partnership with insurance verification technology provider Canopy Connect to bring verified insurance data directly into the estate planning process.

The integration marks what the companies call an industry first: connecting verified insurance information—including life insurance—with Trust & Will’s platform to give families and financial professionals a more complete view of assets, coverage, and beneficiaries within an estate plan.

The partnership supports Trust & Will’s broader EstateOS vision—an operating system for life and legacy that combines financial protection data with planning tools to help users understand their coverage, risk, and needs more holistically.

“Estate planning is about more than documents; it’s about connecting the financial realities of today with the intentions of tomorrow,” said Cody Barbo, Co-Founder and CEO of Trust & Will. “Through this partnership, we’re setting the stage for a new level of visibility and confidence in how families manage their estates, insurance coverage, and legacy planning.”

Through Canopy Connect’s secure API, Trust & Will users will be able to import verified policy information—including carrier, coverage type, and beneficiaries—directly from more than 300 insurance carriers. Canopy Connect’s network includes 96% of the U.S. auto insurance market, 91% of the homeowners market, and a growing number of life and annuity providers.

The integration will allow users to verify coverage tied to key assets such as homes, vehicles, and life insurance policies, receive alerts when policies or beneficiaries change, and gain a clearer view of their overall “Plan Strength.”

According to both companies, most families’ estate plans are incomplete due to a lack of visibility into existing insurance coverage—leading to mismatched beneficiaries, overlapping policies, or gaps in protection. The collaboration is designed to close that gap by incorporating verified insurance data as a core component of estate planning.

“Trust & Will is transforming how verified insurance data can enhance estate planning,” said Tolga Tezel, Founder and CEO of Canopy Connect. “By integrating insurance verification into the planning process, we’re helping families and advisors make better-informed decisions that reflect both their protection and legacy goals.”

The first phase of the integration is expected to roll out within the next year.
