bolttech acquires Kenya-based mTek

bolttech has acquired mTek, the Kenya-based digital insurance platform, to expand its footprint in East Africa and strengthens its global embedded insurance capabilities.

Founded in 2019, mTek offers a paperless platform that lets customers compare, buy, and manage insurance products, partnering with carriers such as GA Insurance, Sanlam, and Britam. The company also teamed up with Mastercard in September to bring embedded insurance solutions to the region.

Through the acquisition, bolttech will use mTek’s technology and local market insight to support its broader protection ecosystem. mTek’s leadership team, led by CEO Bente Krogmann, will continue running operations in East Africa as the company prepares for a future rebrand. Both companies will work together on the integration to maintain continuity for customers, partners, and employees.
