Berlin Direkt launches dog surgery insurance

German insurer Berlin Direkt is introducing “dog surgery insurance for every budget.”

“With dog surgery insurance, after cat surgery and cat health insurance, we have added further protection for animals to our portfolio. Both are already very well received. The expansion of offers for pet owners is the next step towards a more comprehensive, customer-oriented product landscape. With the dog health insurance, which will follow soon, we will respond to further requirements of the market.” – Kai-Uwe Blum, CEO of Berlin Direkt.

Coverage is offered via three different packages: DogCare 70, DogCare 80 and DogCare 100. The cheapest option is DogCare 70 which starts at €8.83 per month. The costs of medically necessary operations, as well as therapies and drugs required following the operation, are reimbursed. Operations resulting from diseases peculiar to dog breeds are also covered.

Under the DogCare 80 and DogCare 100 plans, Berlin Direkt also pays the travel and transport costs to the veterinarian for an operation in emergencies. In the premium version DogCare 100, the assumption of costs is unlimited and also includes telemedicine treatments and the reimbursement of expenses for dog care required in an emergency.
