Aon’s Florida hurricane model certified for ratemaking
Aon announced that its updated Florida hurricane model has been certified by the Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology (FCHLPM) for ratemaking. Developed by Aon’s Impact Forecasting unit, the model integrates historical hurricane data (HURDAT2), regional vulnerability factors, and sea-surface temperature variations to deliver more accurate risk assessments.
The model is available through Aon’s ELEMENTS 18.1 platform and joins its previously certified U.S. flood model. Enhancements include a full-lifecycle wind hazard simulation, improved vulnerability calculations based on recent claims data, and greater transparency for clients around assumptions and inputs.
