Allianz Partners partners with Alaska Airlines

Allianz Partners has partnered with Alaska Airlines to introduce SmartBenefits, a feature that delivers proactive payments to eligible insured guests when travel plans are unexpectedly disrupted by a qualifying travel delay, without the need to file a claim.

Alaska Airlines is the first Allianz airline partner to offer this benefit. With SmartBenefits, insured guests receive a fixed payment when their flight is delayed. The proactive travel delay benefit is available on most Allianz travel insurance plans offered through Alaska Airlines, with plans to extend this feature to Hawaiian Airlines guests in the near future, ensuring a consistent guest experience across Alaska Air Group.

Allianz Partners tracks flight delays in real time and, when a qualifying delay is detected, sends a text or email notification to the insured guest. The guest can then choose to receive a fast electronic payment or a mailed check—no receipts or claim filing required. Most domestic plans include a $100 fixed payment for delays as short as two hours, while some products may offer varying coverage and benefits.

Allianz Partners first launched SmartBenefits® in 2018 on their plans offered by travel advisors.

“Travel disruptions are never fun, but getting an automatic payment on the spot makes the wait a little easier. Alaska Airlines’ insured guests appreciate the convenience and ease of receiving a proactive payment during a qualified delay, and we’re seeing this benefit drive increased satisfaction and loyalty.” – Emily Hartman, General Manager at Allianz Partners USA.
