Allianz Partners to support Waymo’s European expansion

Allianz Partners and Waymo  have entered into a strategic partnership covering insurance, claims management, safety research and vehicle recovery for Waymo’s planned expansion into Europe.

Waymo plans to begin a phased commercial deployment in Germany before potentially extending the model to additional European markets.

Allianz will provide tailored insurance and risk-management solutions for Waymo’s autonomous fleets, including motor fleet, product liability and multinational general liability programs. The companies will also explore new insurance models designed for autonomous mobility platforms.

Solvd Group, Allianz Partners’ digital claims management business, will support end-to-end claims handling, while the Allianz Center for Technology will contribute crash analysis, vehicle safety and risk-modeling expertise. Allianz Versicherungs-AG and Allianz Commercial will also participate in the partnership.

The companies plan to jointly study autonomous-vehicle safety, claims patterns and risk modeling, with the potential to publish research as operational data becomes available. They will also explore vehicle-recovery services designed for autonomous fleets.

“Autonomous mobility and AI are some of the most significant shifts our industry will navigate in the years ahead. Waymo’s technology leadership, combined with Allianz’s global expertise in insurance, assistance, and vehicle safety, allows us to build a comprehensive ecosystem that provides passengers peace of mind at every stage of the journey.” – Tomas Kunzmann, CEO, Allianz Partners.
