Allianz becomes first insurer in Prague to offer insurance for EVs

The Czech branch of Allianz has extended its car insurance to electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. Motorists can now also insure batteries, charging stations and use special assistance services.

“We follow current trends and it is very important for us that our product range meets the requirements and expectations of our clients. Owners of electric cars and plug-in hybrids can therefore choose one of four car insurance packages at Allianz, which is newly expanded with benefits such as towing to the nearest charging station or insurance for the battery, charging cables and other equipment.” – Josef Lukášek, a member of the board of directors and CPO of Allianz insurance company.

As part of the insurance, Allianz covers one of the most expensive components of an electric car – the battery, due to its damage, fire and other insurance risks. The insurance also protects charging cables, wall boxes, adapters and other equipment.

“Our goal is to provide services that allow drivers to use their electric car to the fullest. Electromobility continues to move forward thanks to new technologies, but the concern about range is often addressed. We also think about this with our product. In unexpected situations, motorists will be helped by assistance services that will tow the car to the nearest charging station if the battery is discharged, so that drivers can recharge the battery in peace and continue their journey.” – Lukášek.
