Africell Launches Microinsurance Product in Collaboration With Willis Towers Watson

Africell, a leading 4G network in Uganda, has launched Sierra Leone’s first mobile life insurance product, in partnership with Gras Savoye and Activia International . Same Gras Savoye that’s an insurance broker, part of Willis Towers Watson. Same Activa International that’s a Pan-African insurer authorized by the Central Bank of Liberia to write both life and general insurance.

The product is launched at a time where only 13% of the adult population in the country have access to formal financial services like savings, credit and insurance. Also, more than 75% of households in Sierra Leone have access to mobile phones, which makes this scheme a good fit. PS. Africell is also behind SureBuddy, the mobile app that allows users to view sponsored ads in exchange for funeral or phone insurance.
