Asurion’s Next Acquisition: Glass Smith?
Meet Glass Smith. A Richmond-based startup launched earlier this year with the ambitious plan to offer on-demand smartphone repair services provided by a network of technicians, or “smiths,” living in communities across the nation. While not an insurance player per se,Glass Smith is focused on getting the attention of college students and once successful, can either be a friend or a foe to existing product insurance players such as Asurion and Upsie . Speaking of Asurion, the Nashville-based company is selling 5 customer support centers and transitioning some 2,300 customer reps to iQor, a global provider of business process outsourcing and product support services. Bottom Line: good luck finding positive tweets on Asurion.
