Insurance Australia Group is planning to establish an investment fund that will operate within IAG Ventures to buy stakes in emerging growth companies. Think: big data applications, telematics and IoT. While they are at it, they’ve also announced that ShareCover, IAG’s sub brand for the gig economy, aka those renting their houses through Airbnb and Stayz, will now be accepting payments via Braintree – the mobile payments technology used by Uber, Airbnb, and StubHub. Bottom Line: Huge.
