Buddy, the Richmond, Virginia-based startup offering term life and a “one of a kind episodic accident insurance”, is showing signs of life.

The company offers two insurance products: (1) term life by Assurity, and (2) accident insurance by State National, with the option to purchase coverage for specific dates.

Led by Charles Merritt, Buddy was recently selected to participate in MetLife’s digital accelerator, and has raised $685k from MetLife and Techstars. Recall new D2C entrants in the life insurance space here.
