Maple Raises $4M to Advance Virtual Healthcare in Canada
Toronto-based telemedicine platform Maple announced it has raised $4M in a Series A round.
With nearly 20,000 patients and more than 100 Canadian licensed doctors on the platform, Maple promises patients a live chat or video visit within 5 minutes day or night – the shortest wait time for a doctor in Canada’s virtual care industry.
“We initially launched Maple as another option for patients to get fast and convenient access to a doctor after-hours, right from their smartphone or computer. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and the demand for our service is rapidly growing – not just from patients, but also from employers, insurers, hospitals and more. We believe every Canadian needs to have access to this type of service” – cofounder and CEO at Maple, Dr. Brett Belchetz.
Last, Sun Life Financial is a partner. The insurer that recently announced its investment in Collective Health is leveraging Maple’s tech to make virtual healthcare more accessible to its clients. “Virtual care adds a new layer of access and convenience to the health care ecosystem. We’re excited to be connecting with companies like Maple, as we work to provide Canadians with innovative solutions that can help them live healthier lives” – SVP of Group Benefits, Dave Jones.
Bottom Line: Maple is to Sun Life as Dialogue is to SSQ Insurance.
