Insurance Intake Goes Inbox-First as Canopy Connect Introduces Email Intake

Canopy Connect, the insurance intake platform used by more than 24,000 agents across more than 6,000 agencies, has added email to the ways prospects can share their insurance information. The new feature, Email Intake, lets a prospect send documents to an agent’s dedicated address and have the data show up, already structured, in the agent’s Canopy Connect dashboard.

Each agent gets a dedicated email address tied to their existing Canopy Connect link. When a prospect emails documents there, Canopy Connect parses the attachments, which can include declarations pages, schedules, ACORD forms, legible photos, and handwritten notes. Agents can then review and edit the data and send it to a comparative rater, CRM, or agency management system.

The company says the feature targets a manual step that survives even in digital agencies: someone downloads an emailed attachment, then uploads it somewhere or retypes what’s on it. Because Email Intake produces the same structured data as the other Sharing Paths within Canopy Connect, intake stays consistent however a prospect chooses to share.

“Email is already where insurance conversations frequently happen,” said Tolga Tezel, founder and CEO of Canopy Connect. “Email Intake lets agents keep that habit and skip the manual work that usually follows.”

Email Intake joins Carrier Connection, Document Upload, Form Entry, and Contact Me, the options prospects see on Canopy Connect’s Sharing Paths screen. It follows the August launch of Trailhead, a configurable landing page that appears before an intake link. Canopy Connect says it has processed more than 10 million policies since launch.

As more prospects expect to share information on their own terms, the work behind the scenes is shifting too. With email added to the mix, an attachment that once meant downloading, uploading, and retyping becomes data an agent can review and send on to their rater, CRM, or AMS.
