Asurion expands LeakProtect with monitoring-only option

Asurion has added LeakProtect Essential to its managed water loss prevention program for insurance carriers, expanding its offering to homes where installing an automatic shutoff valve may not be practical or necessary.

The addition creates a three-tier lineup. Essential provides continuous water monitoring and leak alerts without a shutoff valve. Standard adds automatic shutoff on the home’s main water line, while XL serves larger and more complex properties, including homes with 1.5-inch or 2-inch water mains or multiple points of water control.

Across the program, Asurion manages home assessments, device selection, professional installation through licensed plumbers, activation and ongoing support. The service also includes 24/7 monitoring, human review of significant alerts, warranty administration and up to $500 in plumbing discounts for qualifying leaks.

The expansion broadens Asurion’s relationship with Phyn. LeakProtect Standard already uses Phyn Plus, its whole-home monitoring and automatic shutoff system. Essential will use Phyn Assist, while XL will use Phyn Protect XL for larger water lines.
