Bishop Street Underwriters establishes new UK group structure

Bishop Street Underwriters has established a new UK group structure that brings together its growing portfolio of UK specialty insurance businesses under a single management framework. The new structure will unite the firm’s UK businesses together under Bishop Street Underwriters UK, creating a common management and governance structure that will allow for more efficient operations across the group.

Bishop’s subsidiaries, Avid Insurance, Landmark Underwriting and Incorporated Insurance Group, will continue to operate under their existing brands and regulated entities, with their underwriting and distribution teams remaining within their existing structures. The businesses will retain and continue to develop their individual market identities, underwriting specialisms and broker relationships.

Bishop Street has appointed Stephen Gibson to lead Bishop Street UK’s operations as Group Chief Executive Officer, supported by John Inwood as Chief Underwriting Officer, Jon Terry as Group Chief Financial Officer and Sitki Gelmen as Deputy Chair.

As part of the changes, Bishop Street UK is also introducing integrated platforms and shared capabilities across its UK businesses to reduce duplication and make greater use of expertise, technology and resources available across the wider group. It will also create a scalable operating platform through which Bishop Street can support further organic growth and future acquisitions in the UK.

Bishop Street acquired Landmark Underwriting in February 2025, marking its first expansion outside North America.
