Simply Business hits one million UK customers
Simply Business has reached one million customers in the UK, a milestone the Travelers-owned digital broker says cements its position as one of the country’s largest small business insurance providers.
The company has grown its UK customer base by more than 50% since 2020. It crossed one million global customers in August 2024, less than two years before reaching the same mark in the UK alone. Simply Business also operates in the U.S.
The broker lets small business owners and landlords compare and buy from up to 28 insurance brands, supported by in-house underwriting, with cover spanning more than 1,700 trades and professions. Nine in ten UK customers rate its service “good” or “excellent.”
Earlier this year, Simply Business launched what it describes as the UK’s first business insurance app in ChatGPT, generating an indicative price from four inputs before routing customers to its website to complete the purchase.
The company’s Big Dreams Project, its social impact arm, aims to help 10,000 small businesses start or grow by 2030. Its Young Entrepreneur Fund, launched in 2025, gave ten people aged 18-30 grants of £5,000 each, alongside partnerships with Hatch Enterprise and The King’s Trust.
“Reaching one million UK customers is a proud moment for everyone at Simply Business. It speaks to the trust small business owners and landlords have placed in us – and the unique platform we have built to serve them. It also motivates us to go further. We’re focused on finding new ways to make insurance more accessible, and our first-of-its-kind app in ChatGPT is the latest step in that journey. Our purpose from day one has been to champion small businesses. They are the backbone of the UK economy, and the passion they bring to what they do is extraordinary – we’re determined to match it with simplicity, choice and value.” – Julie Fisher, UK CEO at Simply Business.
