Achmea and Protected Cropping Australia partner on greenhouse risk management

Protected Cropping Australia (PCA) has partnered with Achmea Farm Insurance to support risk management and resilience in Australia’s protected cropping sector.

The partnership will focus on prevention-led guidance for glasshouse operations, knowledge sharing on issues including sustainability, biosecurity, and workforce management, and the adoption of international best practices through Achmea’s collaboration with greenhouse horticulture insurer Hagelunie.

The organizations will also sponsor industry events, including the Protected Cropping Conference 2027 in Australia and GreenTech 2027 in the Netherlands.

According to PCA, Australia’s protected cropping sector generates around A$4.5 billion in annual farm gate value, accounts for approximately 15% to 20% of the country’s vegetable and flower production value, and supports more than 10,000 jobs nationally.

“Through Achmea Farm Insurance’s cooperative approach working in partnership with industry, we aim to reduce risks, strengthen resilience, and deliver on our vision of protecting and enhancing a sustainable future for agricultural communities.” – Glenn Rosbrook, Chief Client Officer at Achmea Farm Insurance.
