Howden launches actuarial & longevity practice with Hymans Robertson deal

Howden Group Holdings has agreed to acquire the Insurance and Financial Services Consulting Team from Hymans Robertson LLP, expanding its actuarial and longevity advisory capabilities and formally launching a new global practice.

The deal will establish Howden Insurance Actuarial & Longevity (Howden IAL), combining the Hymans Robertson IFS team with actuarial and longevity specialists previously integrated into Howden through Barnett Waddingham. The combined unit is positioned as a scaled advisory platform aimed at insurers navigating increasingly complex regulatory, capital, and market conditions.

Howden IAL will provide services across pricing, capital allocation, reserving, risk and investment strategy, asset liability management, model validation, and longevity risk. The practice will consist of around 90 specialists, increasing Howden’s capacity to support insurers across core actuarial and risk functions.

The move extends Howden’s reach in insurance advisory, adding technical depth and expanding its client base globally. It also reflects continued investment in actuarial and risk talent as the firm builds out its broader insurance advisory capabilities.

The transaction is expected to close in spring 2026.
