MIB partners with Equifax
MIB Group has reached an agreement with Equifax to provide life insurers with real-time employment and income verification data, expanding the data available for financial underwriting and risk management.
Under the arrangement, MIB members will be able to access up to 24 months of employment and income history sourced from Equifax, a Fair Credit Reporting Act regulated provider. The data set covers more than 238 million individuals, representing over half of the active U.S. workforce, and is sourced directly from employers and payroll providers with updates each pay cycle.
The service is designed to address income misrepresentation and data gaps in life insurance applications. Employment and income verification is increasingly used to support coverage justification, assess employment stability, and better understand factors that may influence policy placement and lapse risk. Available data points include job title, employer tenure, and income details, with 24/7 access for underwriting use.
The offering is integrated into MIB’s Medical Data Solutions platform and is available to all members, regardless of whether they use other MDS products. For insurers using MIB’s EHR services, employment and income verification can be requested alongside medical records within the same workflow.
“We are excited to work with MIB to extend our proven verification capabilities to the life insurance sector, helping carriers streamline underwriting and improve decisioning. This collaboration is a significant milestone for Equifax as we continue to broaden the utilization of our income and employment data and leading technology. By integrating our solutions, we are supporting MIB in its mission to help life insurance companies enhance the efficiency of their operations, accelerate the underwriting process, and ultimately provide a better experience for applicants.” – Ryan Coleman, Business Development and Partnerships Leader at Equifax.
“This arrangement with Equifax reflects MIB’s commitment to delivering essential data solutions that address pressing, unmet needs in life insurance underwriting. By enabling access to reliable employment and income data, we are helping our members address longstanding challenges in financial underwriting—particularly for applicants with a thin digital footprint—while advancing our goal to expand access to diverse data sources that support more accurate risk assessment and informed decision-making.” – Jas Awla, President of MIB Medical Data Solutions.
