BMO to launch pet insurance with Walnut and Trupanion
BMO Insurance is entering the pet insurance market through a partnership with Walnut Insurance, offering customers a digital-first experience to help protect their cats and dogs.


Available through bmoinsurance.com/pet, the new offering will allow customers to get quotes, customize coverage, and complete purchases online in a process designed to be “as easy as belly rubs and tail wags.”
Behind the scenes, the insurance is underwritten by GPIC Insurance Company and administered by Trupanion , a leading provider of pet health insurance in North America. Policies are distributed by BMO Insurance Solutions and Canada Pet Health Insurance Services (doing business as Trupanion).
BMO customers can also earn AIR MILES Reward Miles™ on their pet insurance purchases, adding a loyalty perk to the mix.
The move extends BMO’s insurance portfolio beyond life and health into lifestyle protection, aligning with a broader industry trend among financial institutions to diversify into pet insurance as pet ownership and veterinary costs rise.
