Northern Neck and Frederick Mutual Plan to affiliate

Northern Neck Insurance Company and Frederick Mutual Insurance Company announced their intent to affiliate, pending regulatory approval. The partnership brings together two long-standing mutual insurers with a combined 311-year legacy, aligning on shared values and a goal to build a stronger regional carrier.

Northern Neck, rated A- by AM Best, and Frederick Mutual, rated A by Demotech, will combine expertise in personal and commercial lines to offer broader coverage options and localized support. The affiliation will extend their reach across Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, the District of Columbia, and North Carolina, serving policyholders through more than 450 independent agencies.

Both companies will continue operating under their existing brands, with Frederick Mutual headquartered in Frederick, Maryland, and Northern Neck in Irvington, Virginia. Leadership continuity will be maintained during the transition, with CEOs Cammarata and Newmister remaining in their roles until completion. Together, the organizations will employ over 90 people and focus on sustainable growth through regional strength and member-focused service.
