AIA names new CRO

AIA has appointed Ben Ng as Group Chief Risk Officer Designate, effective October 1, 2025. Based in Hong Kong, Ng will join the Group Executive Committee and assume the CRO role on January 1, 2026, pending regulatory approval.

Ng, who joined AIA in 2011, has held senior roles across multiple markets, including CEO of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Group Corporate Solutions. He has also served as president of the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia.

He succeeds Jayne Plunkett, who has been Group CRO since 2019 and will retire in January 2026 after guiding AIA through significant regulatory change and strengthening the risk function’s role.

“I am pleased to announce Ben’s appointment as Group Chief Risk Officer. He brings extensive leadership experience across our markets, a deep understanding of risk management and governance, and a proven track record of effective collaboration with regulators and boards. These qualities make him exceptionally well-suited to this critical role. Ben will continue to advance the Group’s risk and compliance functions, ensuring robust oversight while fostering innovation that drives sustainable business growth. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Jayne for her dedication, vision and many contributions to AIA. Over the years, Jayne has fostered a strong risk culture and transformed our risk management capabilities. She has provided valuable insights and perspectives that have helped shape the Group’s strategy and decision-making. Jayne has also invested in developing future leaders, ensuring that we have a capable team and a respected function that will continue to serve AIA well in the years ahead.” – Lee Yuan Siong, AIA Group Chief Executive and President.
