Belfius to discontinue banking app Banx three years post launch
Belfius , a Belgian financial services group providing banking and insurance products, and Proximus , a telecom company, have announced the discontinuation of the Banx app, which was introduced in late 2021. The app will be discontinued in December due to its struggle to gain significant traction in a saturated market.
The banking app allowed users to monitor the environmental impact of their purchases, aiming to connect environmentally conscious consumers with local partners to make sustainable banking accessible to all. Banx integrated high-tech and sustainable features throughout the user experience, from simple bank cards made of recycled plastic to enabling prospects to become customers with an eID in less than five minutes.
Moving forward, the partnership will focus on leveraging Belfius’s existing banking services and the recently launched Proximus+ app, which offers a range of services, including energy and mobility management. Proximus customers will benefit from exclusive offers when subscribing to Belfius products, marking a new phase in their collaboration.
Additionally, Proximus telecom packages are sold through Belfius channels under the name “Beats,” and these will continue.
“In 2021, Belfius and Proximus laid the foundations for a unique strategic partnership. We kicked off a successful innovation with the launch of Beats, an exclusive combined telecom and banking offer on the Belgian market. We will build on this successful collaboration by allowing Proximus customers to enjoy exclusive benefits on Belfius’ strong offering.” – Marc Raisière, CEO of Belfius.
