Apple pulls back from supporting OpenAI
OpenAI has raised $6.6 billion in new funding, reaching a post-money valuation of $157 billion.
According to Bloomberg, the funding round was led by Thrive Capital, with participation from Microsoft, Nvidia, SoftBank, and others.
This places OpenAI—boasting over 250 million weekly ChatGPT users—among the top three largest venture-backed startups, alongside SpaceX and TikTok owner ByteDance Ltd. However, OpenAI projects $5 billion in losses on $3.7 billion in revenue for the year.
Bottom line: Apple’s absence from the funding round is notable.
