Zillow picks Homesite as its renters insurance partner

Real estate marketplace Zillow is moving beyond its lead-gen partnership with LeaseLock now that it has secured a partnership with Homesite , a subsidiary of American Family.

In a landing page set up by Zillow, the company shares that renters insurance is offered through Zillow Insurance Services and that Zillow is compensated by Homesite in connection with the sale of renters insurance through its channels.

Christy Kaufman, who serves as Zillow’s Vice President of Risk Management and Insurance Services, was formerly employed at American Family Ventures. The announcement coincides with OnStar Insurance no longer directing customers to American Family.

Coverager also understands that several partners were considered for this program and that Zillow also eyed the home insurance market.

Bottom Line: Over 1.1 million renters submitted online applications with Zillow Applications in 2021.
