Navigation app Sygic offers travel insurance in Europe
GPS navigation app Sygic is now offering travel insurance in Europe in partnership with Union , part of Achmea .
“We see it as our mission to respond quickly to market needs with new technologies that, in addition to navigation, help increase safety behind the wheel. Travel safety has become a key issue. We believe that the new Sygic GPS Navigation’s benefit will be appreciated by customers when planning holidays and trips and into the future.” – Sygic CEO Martin Strigač.
The Sygic app offers three insurance types: short-term travel insurance, short-term including COVID-19 co-insurance, and long-term (annual) travel insurance. Annual coverage is beneficial for those who spend at least 25 days a year on the road. Customers can get insurance for repeated trips abroad for 365 days; while the maximum insurance period for one trip is 30 days.
For Sygic, which uses TomTom Traffic navigation, this isn’t the first time it has partnered with an insurance company. Around 2018, it partnered with Onlia , the Canadian insurer and JV by Achmea and Fairfax Financial (see Achmea above), to help the insurer develop the Onlia Sense app to reward safe driving.
Bottom Line: What if rival Google Maps started offering travel insurance? And that’s what we call Insurance Under the Influence®.
