Zurich Municipal rolls out online insurance platform for schools

Zurich Municipal introduced an online service that lets primary schools secure insurance in minutes using property and location data. Schools not currently insured by Zurich can obtain a packaged policy by answering roughly ten yes/no questions, reducing the detail normally required during quoting.

The platform is available to academies and local authority schools and is intended to simplify renewal shopping. The tool matches coverage to each school’s circumstances, with the option to contact Zurich Municipal for support.

Common claims range from water leaks at about £17,000 to more severe events such as fires or explosions at around £250,000. Policies also cover issues like data breaches and on-site accidents.

School insurance with Zurich Municipal also includes risk guidance, safeguarding support through Ineqe’s Safer Schools ecosystem, surface-water flood alerts powered by Previsico, and legal services via ARAG.

“Insurance can be complex and schools are time poor, but we can use our 30 years of experience protecting the public sector and insuring schools of all sizes to make life easier. We offer unique services to help schools manage their risks, plus we have highly experienced claims specialists on hand to help minimise disruption if the worst does happen. No two schools are the same and that’s why we’ve created this system with the latest intelligence behind it, to ensure the circumstances and needs of individual schools aren’t overlooked. We get lots of great feedback about our product and services, and we’re happy to launch this new online route to make it even easier for schools to protect themselves with us.” – Will Paskins, Head of Digital Trading & Partnerships at Zurich Municipal.
