Zurich and Achmea Become Tech Players & Partners

Zurich has announced the launch of a new company called Zurich Insurance Mobile Solutions Ltd (ZIMS) that will combine digital, physical and insurance service components such as intelligent mobility, smart homes and connected people, to develop mobile-enabled solutions to meet the evolving needs of their customers.

“Customers have their mobile phones with them all of the time and they use them to buy what they want when they want. With ZIMS, we can place an even greater focus on our customers and empower them with the digital services they need” – Theo Bouts, who has been named as CEO of ZIMS, reporting directly to Zurich Group CEO Mario Greco.

To kick start this initiative, the insurer is partnering with telematics specialist Bright Box, a global vendor of connected vehicle services that’s owned by Zurich, Digital Insurance Group , the result of a merger between Knip and Komparu that specialize in mobile insurance managers, and  OutShared, a technology service by Achmea that launched in 2015 to deliver a digital-insurer-in-a-box.

The OutShared platform has been available since 2016 and offers insurers a complete solution from policy management to claim settlement to allow customers to conduct with the brand online – obtain quotes, manage policies and submit their claims. It powers Achmea’s D2C insurer InShared.

Fun Fact: InShared is the lemonade before Lemonade. The digital insurer charges a fixed fee and returns unclaimed money at the end of the year.
