Zurich acquires BOXX Insurance

Zurich has acquired Toronto-based Boxx Insurance , a managing general agent specializing in cyber insurance and security solutions for retail and SME clients. The acquisition builds on a partnership that began in 2021 and marks a step for Zurich Global Ventures, the unit responsible for expanding the insurer’s tech-enabled ecosystem across cyber, travel, health, and wellbeing.

Founded in 2018, BOXX offers bundled cyber protection products combining insurance with prevention tools such as VPN, safe browsing, password management, and dark web monitoring. The company raised $24.3 million across two funding rounds, both led by Zurich.

The company’s most recent collaboration with Zurich brought its cyber protection app to the Swiss market, supporting users in English, German, French, and Italian.
