Wyze introduces smart lock
Seattle-based smart home technology provider Wyze Labs is expanding its product range with the introduction of an $89.99 smart lock.
The new lock – available February 2020 – will be controlled via the Wyze app and includes Alexa, Google Assistant, and Zigbee support, with voice unlocking via Alexa and Google Assistant coming sometime in early 2020. The lock will be able to detect when a user is arriving home to unlock the door and once inside, Wyze Lock detects when the door is closed and automatically locks the door.
The lock runs on four AA batteries which last about three months, and installation takes 15 minutes according to the company.
Bottom Line: Building a home ecosystem and insurance is next.
