Winged Keel acquires NFP Insurance Solutions

Winged Keel Group  has acquired SBSI, Inc. (doing business as NFP Insurance Solutions ), a Chicago-based insurance advisory firm serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals and family offices. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquired firm specializes in life insurance and private placement life insurance (PPLI) and has placed more than $18 billion in life insurance coverage over the past decade. Its team, led by Howard Sharfman and Warren McGuire, has joined Winged Keel, establishing the firm’s first office in Chicago. Sharfman and McGuire have been named principals, with Sharfman also joining Winged Keel’s executive management committee.

The deal is Winged Keel’s fourth acquisition since GTCR made a strategic investment in the company in February 2025, following acquisitions that expanded its presence in St. Louis, Minneapolis, and Denver.
