WeRide launches insurance program with Allianz and Ping An

Autonomous driving company WeRide  has launched a global insurance partnership program with Allianz Insurance Singapore and Ping An P&C Insurance as its first partners.

The program will support WeRide’s international expansion, with partners developing coverage for Level 4 autonomous vehicle operations. Coverage will span motor liability, commercial general and product liability, and privacy and cybersecurity risks, subject to local requirements.

The initiative builds on existing relationships. Allianz insures WeRide’s driverless Robobus service at Singapore’s Sentosa and its Robotaxis deployed with Grab for the Ai.R autonomous shuttle service in Punggol. As of October 2026, the Ai.R service had served more than 13,000 unique riders and logged over 135,000 kilometers of autonomous driving.

Ping An P&C supports WeRide’s Robotaxi operations in China and the Middle East, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The coverage supports services offered through WeRide Go and platforms including Uber and TXAI.

WeRide says it operates approximately 3,600 autonomous vehicles, including more than 1,800 Robotaxis, across 13 countries and over 60 cities. The insurance program is intended to support the deployment of tens of thousands of vehicles, with additional insurers and markets expected to join.

The partners also plan to explore insurance pricing, coverage models and standardized protocols as fleets expand. WeRide expects greater scale and centralized insurance arrangements to improve insurance efficiency and support vehicle economics.
