Volkswagen befriends Mobileye in a pretty big way

Intel and BMW. And now Volkswagen. All call Mobileye a ‘partner’. Let me explain. Volkswagen’s new models will use Mobileye’s tech  and by tech think: camera-based map and localization technology, also called Road Experience Management. The Israeli semiautonomous software supplier uses crowd-sourcing technology to automatically generate high-definition maps and scale them cost-effectively. This means that the many Volkswagen vehicles that will be equipped with sensors will contribute to the monitoring of surroundings and will allow Mobileye to obtain various environmental data that will later be enjoyed by other services to make car driving and mobility easier. Bottom Line: Volkswagen for all.
