Travelers has announced it “teamed up” with Amazon to offer smart home kits and insurance and risk management information through the insurance industry’s first digital storefront: Amazon.com/Travelers.
Currently, Travelers is offering three kits: Smart Kit for $161.95, Smart Kit Plus for $232.91, and Smart Kit Premier for $357.89. Select policyholders are eligible for a discount ($135, $198, $320 accordingly). Fine Print applies: “Smart Home Device Kit offer is available on qualifying property policies in CA, CO, MO & WI. Limit one per qualifying policy. Installation services can be purchased where available. Offer not transferrable. Offer expires in all states 12/31/18.” Kits include security cameras, water sensors, motion detectors with multi-sensor capabilities, a smart home hub that wirelessly connects a wide range of smart devices and enables them to work together, and an Amazon Echo Dot. Select hardware is offered via SmartThings, a Samsung company.
Travelers is also announcing two new Alexa skills. One. The “Travelers” skill to assist home insurance policyholders with questions regarding billing and payments. Two. The “Travelers Home Central” skill to allow consumers to access property maintenance and home safety tips.
Last, Travelers is providing a free Amazon Echo Dot to eligible home insurance customers – even without the purchase of a kit – subject to program terms. The free Amazon Echo Dot and the discounts on the smart home kits are currently available to Travelers home insurance customers in California and Travelers Quantum Home 2.0 customers in Colorado, Missouri and Wisconsin, with more states expected to be added later this year.
