Veoneer and Swiss Re partner to exchange knowledge on ADAS
Swedish automotive technology company Veoneer and Swiss Re are partnering to exchange data and insights related to ADAS (advanced driver-assistance technologies).
Let’s back up. In 2019, the reinsurer launched its ADAS Risk Score to create a vehicle-specific insurance rating that factors driver assistance systems into account. To support its goal, Swiss Re secured partnerships with Toyota Insurance Services and BMW, and now Veoneer.
Veoneer was founded in 2018 as a spin-off of Autoliv, a Swedish-American automotive safety supplier, after having designed, manufactured, and delivered electronic safety products to customers for two decades.
Together, the two are looking to combine Veoneer’s intel on ADAS with Swiss Re’s knowledge on the performance of ADAS systems based on insurance-relevant insights. Ultimately, Veoneer’s insights will feed into the Swiss Re ADAS Risk Score.
“With extended knowledge about the real-world performance of various ADAS technologies in different parts of the world, we can develop systems used by vehicle manufacturers globally that support drivers in an even better way. It forms the next step in collaborative driving, putting both driver and technology in focus.” – Steven Jenkins, Chief Technology Officer at Veoneer.
“We’re delighted to further our work on advanced driving-assistance systems through the partnership with Veoneer. We thereby respond to our clients’ needs of being able to accurately assess the latest ADAS technologies and their potential impact on future claims.” – Pranav Pasricha, Swiss Re’s Global Head P&C Solutions.
