Uber to offer benefits package to UK drivers

Uber drivers who have completed at least 500 Uber journeys can pay £2 a week, or £104 a year, for a benefits package, which covers them if they’re sick, injured or on jury duty. In the #s: (1) Injured or sick drivers can claim up to £2,000 if they’re unable to drive for two weeks or longer. (2) Drivers will be covered for up to £300 a week for a year if they have an accident while logged into the Uber app. (3) Drivers and family members can claim up to £50,000 if they die or are disabled while driving for Uber. This news follows a similar announcement made two weeks ago by the controversial ridesharing company that declared its collaboration with Lagos-based AXA Mansard to provide coverage to Uber riders for accidental death and disability during their Uber trips. Bottom Line: let’s just say not everyone will be impressed.
