TypTap expands to Connecticut

Florida-based insurer and a subsidiary of HCI Group , TypTap , announced it has received regulatory approval to write homeowners insurance in Connecticut.

Founded in 2016 and a team of ~27, TypTap started out by offering flood insurance but the company eventually extended its online quoting and binding platform to include homeowners’ insurance.

The approval is part of TypTap’s planned nationwide expansion announced in August of 2020. TypTap has received approvals in 12 states outside of Florida.
