Tractable raises $8 million

UK-based Tractable announced that it has raised $8 million in a Series A round bringing its total funding to date to $9.9M . Tractable is a deep learning startup that specializes in computer vision with the goal of turning visual inspections obsolete. It primarily targets three industries: construction, insurance and healthcare.

In insurance, its software is supposedly really good at reviewing images of damaged vehicles and later providing cost estimates for repairs. And, it can also detect suspicious claims. Bottom Line: the startup had a busy year. It inked a deal with Mitchell International, a San Diego-based P&C claims software provider, to deploy its software to customers in the US and Canada. And Ageas is using its technology to analyze images and verify the performance of its UK-wide repair networks in managing customers’ auto claims.
