Tom Doruska appointed Homesteaders chief actuary
Steve Pick, Homesteaders Executive VP-Chief Financial Officer, announced that Tom Doruska has joined the organization as Chief Actuary.

In particular, Tom’s impressive background in product development will be a huge asset to our ongoing efforts to provide innovative products and solutions to our funeral home customers, enhancing their ability to connect with consumers and the families they serve.”
In his new role, Doruska will lead the team responsible for the company’s profit testing, product development, actuarial services and long-range profitability planning. He will work closely with the enterprise strategy team as well as the sales, marketing and financial departments to develop new products and evaluate opportunities to support Homesteaders’ corporate goals.

Doruska has more than three decades of experience in the life insurance industry, including new product development, in-force policy management and preneed. He is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He currently resides in Ankeny, IA, with his family.
