The impressive growth in number of Pets in Spain fuels the development of Pet Insurance and Pet Care Services
The latest figure released by The Spanish Association of Pet Food Manufacturers has revealed an amazing growth of 54% in the number of cats and 38% growth in the number of dogs living in Spain.
This growth has fuelled the development of new initiatives in the fields of insurance and services for the Spanish pets. Right now, the number of pets has surpassed the number of kids and by so also the expenditure on them.
We have seen the launching of Ecopawpet.com, a company made up of a group of eco-friendly Spanish pet owners with the huge goal of helping to offset all the CO2 emissions that our beloved pets generate on a daily basis.
They are the only Co2 compensation platform specialized in the ecological pawprint of dogs and cats, with a completely safe and transparent CO2 compensation procedure, fully digitalized and 100% paperless to minimize their own impact on the planet.
Also “new in town” is Doggies in Towns a start-up founded in Malaga (Spain) that has developed an application where you can find “dog-friendly” places (accommodation, hotels, restaurants, shops, parks and beaches), activities, events, products and services for dogs. The app even allows you to make reservations and direct purchases. In addition, it also offers a SaaS marketing and sales platform for companies, where they can create a profile for their business and become visible in the application for dog owners.
In the pet insurance field, Petplan Spain, a Pet Insurance and Digital Pet App founded at Andalucía (Spain), closed year 2021 with a 80% growth in gross premiums and initiated weeks ago an investment round (capital increase) to finance several new projects that will be developed in the following months, as the entrance in the Portuguese Market, the development of a fully 100% quoting process through Alexa, Siri and the like… and the development of an embedded version of the selling funnel to be integrated in other webs platforms.
In Barcelona, initiated operations Dinbeat, which has developed a device that vets can use to monitor animals 24/7 during hospitalization, without their not being sedated being a problem. Before this product was available, veterinarians had no ongoing information on the state of health of any of their awake patients. This meant that unfortunately things happened when animals were not being monitored. Things that should not happen due to a lack of tools. That led Dinbeat founders to use all their resources to create an impressive telemedicine system for animals called Dinbeat UNO.
Last but not least, it has to be mentioned in this growing pet ecosystem, Cookypets, a start-up founded in Seville that develops easy baking recipes for pets. They claim to be the easiest way to prepare treats for our furry friend with all the mixes being 100% natural, free of preservatives and colourings. Healthy and organic.
