State Auto ends telematics program for farm auto policies
Based on recent insurance filings in VA, PA, and TN, State Auto is removing its telematics program from its farm auto program, which was introduced in 2020.
According to the filings, State Auto found that the program, Ag Smart 360, was giving away “unwarranted discounts” as a majority of policyholders would sign up for the Ag Smart 360 program to receive initial discounts yet the devices were never installed and the smartphone app was not downloaded. State Auto offered a 10% discount upon signing up for the program.
The insurer also highlighted that the enrollment rate in the Ag Smart 360 program, in general, “was extremely low.”
