Stand launches catastrophe risk model

Stand Insurance Solutions announced the launch of the Stand World Model, a physics-based AI model designed to simulate how homes respond to wildfire, flood, wind, and earthquakes at the structure level.

The model combines physics simulations with AI inference to evaluate catastrophe risk and identify mitigation steps that could improve a property’s survivability. Stand said the model correctly predicted survival outcomes for 84% of structures evaluated during the January 2025 California wildfires, compared to 46% for a traditional insurance model.

Stand uses the model to support underwriting and mitigation recommendations for catastrophe-exposed homes. The company said wildfire mitigation efforts can reduce homeowner premiums by up to 60%.

Stand underwrites policies through Concert Specialty Insurance Company in California and Stand Insurance Exchange in Florida, with reinsurance support from companies including Arch, RenaissanceRe, Hannover Re, Nephila, and Hiscox.
