SoundHound AI acquires Amelia

SoundHound AI , a company specializing in voice AI, has acquired Amelia , an enterprise AI software company. This acquisition strengthens SoundHound’s position in voice and conversational AI across various sectors, including retail, financial services, healthcare, automotive, smart devices, and restaurants.

This acquisition allows SoundHound AI to enter new industries such as healthcare, insurance, financial services, and retail, expanding its market reach.

The company plans to enhance voice commerce capabilities, enabling transactions like food ordering, ticket buying, and appointment scheduling on SoundHound-powered devices.

The acquisition deal is valued at $80 million in cash and equity, including partial payment, assumption of Amelia’s debt, and potential future payments tied to revenue milestones. Combined revenue is expected to exceed $150 million in 2025, with Amelia contributing over $45 million in recurring AI software revenue, along with additional revenues from services and agent-related fees. The deal is expected to positively impact SoundHound’s earnings by the second half of 2025, driven by revenue growth and cost savings. At closing, the combined company will have about $160 million in cash and $39 million in debt.
