Sompo establishes Sompo Wellbeing to promote positive aging

Sompo Holdings  has established Sompo Wellbeing Inc., a new company focused on addressing Japan’s growing concerns around health, nursing care, and retirement finances amid a rapidly aging population. The new entity will also provide services to help employees balance work and caregiving responsibilities.

Building on Sompo’s 2024 pilot program Wellbio and the 2025 corporate-focused service Wellbio Biz, the company will integrate and expand these initiatives under one structure. Based in Tokyo and led by Yasuhiro Oba, Sompo Wellbeing will officially launch on October 1, 2025, with ¥450 million in capital and full ownership by Sompo Holdings.

Services will target individuals in their 40s to 60s who are managing caregiving for parents, offering support in areas such as long-term care planning, financial preparation, family trusts, and retirement asset building. For corporate clients, Sompo Wellbeing will provide programs that help employees balance work and caregiving while supporting HR departments in developing related workplace policies.

Sompo says the initiative aligns with its broader mission to enhance health, wellbeing, and financial protection, aiming to build a society where people can age securely and positively through innovative, technology-driven solutions.
