Slingshot raises $2.2 million
Slingshot, a startup offering business management solutions for creators, announced a $2.2 million pre-seed round, with participation from Dorm Room Fund, 1916 Enterprises, Key Partners Group, and Vincent Francoeur, former head of web and mobile at Blizzard Entertainment.
Founded in 2020 to provide legal and financial infrastructure to musicians to grow their audiences without a label, Slingshot eventually pivoted to what it is today – a startup offering a variety of financial services and products such as invoicing, bookkeeping, tax filing, payroll, retirement and healthcare.
Creators can take advantage of the various offerings by joining Slingshot Creative LLC (a subsidiary of Slingshot) as an employee or contractor, depending on the benefits they’re interested in. Creators then provide a limited license for their work to Slingshot Creative, which allows them to conduct business related to their content under Slingshot Creative’s legal entity.
Slingshot features a membership with additional products and services, including access to a team of experts that can help creators “with nearly anything.” The startup also offers $2 million in liability insurance for creators’ business and events in the US.
Slingshot’s management fee is 2% of revenue.
