Shepherd Insurance acquires Capitol Insurance Group

Shepherd Insurance  announced the acquisition of Capitol Insurance Group, an Indianapolis-based independent insurance agency founded in 1981.

Capitol Insurance Group provides insurance and risk management solutions for businesses, churches, nonprofits, and individuals. The agency will continue operating with its existing team while gaining access to Shepherd’s carrier relationships and resources.

The deal expands Shepherd Insurance’s presence in Indianapolis and adds additional expertise in church and nonprofit insurance.

Founded in 1977, Shepherd Insurance is headquartered in Carmel, Indiana and operates across multiple states. The agency has access to more than 200 insurance carriers and employs over 650 people across 45 offices.
