Savvy opens insurance shopping to AI agents

Engine by Gen has updated its insurance marketplace, Savvy Insurance Solutions , to support AI agents shopping on consumers’ behalf, including assistants such as Muse and Instinct.

The website consolidates most questions onto a single page to reduce back-and-forth between an agent and its user. Shoppers can first receive anonymous rate estimates based on recently sold policies purchased by customers with similar profiles. If those estimates warrant proceeding, Savvy requests contact information to obtain personalized quotes.

According to the company, only Savvy is permitted to use that contact information, limiting outreach from multiple insurers. Engine also says the process is designed to reduce unnecessary, costly data pulls for carriers.

The launch comes as insurance marketplaces consider how to handle automated shopping, with some restricting or blocking AI agents. Engine says it is exploring additional integrations across the emerging AI agent ecosystem.

“AI agents are quickly becoming a popular way to get advice, but asking an agent to find car insurance is fundamentally different from asking it to find a new pair of sneakers. When AI agents shop for insurance without using Savvy, people quickly lose control over their personal information as AI may share it with untold insurance websites, which leads to spam and risk of identity theft. When AI agents use the new Savvy website, shoppers can get rate estimates anonymously and can get personalized quotes without getting contacted by multiple insurers.” – Chris Schellens, Head of Engine by Gen .
