Riovic Collaborates with PeerCover on P2P Insurance

Before.

Later.

Today.

Let me explain. When Riovic launched in 2015, it launched with the goal of offering a platform to allow individuals to transfer risks by converting their risks to tokens that can later be traded through smart contracts. That was then. This is now. According to the South African startup’s website, “Riovic is an on-demand insurance platform. It works like Uber and Airbnb. Consumers who do not have insurance policies can buy protection where and when they need it without assuming the responsibility to pay monthly premiums that comes with insurance policies.” Also, the startup announced it has collaborated with PeerCover, a New Zealand-based P2P insurance provider “to leverage Riovic’s social network platform to deliver superior peer-to-peer insurance solutions.” This is PeerCover:

Apparently “Riovic is developing affordable health insurance”, while “PeerCover has developed multi-line peer-to-peer insurance products including phone, motor and pet covers”. Thing to note: both PeerCover founder, Chris Logan, and Riovic cofounder, Phiwa Nkambule, have additional jobs.
